This carne asada is a crowd pleaser!! It has a citrusy tang that will have the whole family asking for seconds. We used a flat iron steak, but depending on how many you are feeding you could really do this recipe with skirt steaks or flank steaks as well.

Ingredients

  • Skirt Steak, Flank Steak, or Flat Iron

  • 1/3 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • Juice of 3 limes

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • Juice of 4 oranges

  • 4 Cloves of minced garlic

  • Handfull of chopped cilantro

  • Half a chopped onion

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 1 tbsp onion powder

  • 1 tbsp cumin

  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes

Directions

  • This is all about the marinade. Combine all of the ingredients together to form your delicious marinade.
  • Put the marinade and your steak in a ziploc back or a container and let sit in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours. It can marinade as long as 24 hours.
  • In a hot cast iron skillet, put a little bit of butter down and dump your steak and a little bit of the marinade into the pan. (We used a cast iron skillet, but you can do this in a regular one too)
  • Cook for just a few minutes on each side. How long will depend on the cut of steak you use and how thick it is. For our flat iron we only needed about 3 min on each side.
  • Let rest for 5 min. ALWAYS let the steak rest.
  • Slice and serve! Your steak should be pink through the middle.
